Description
We've enhanced Adafruit's RGB LED matrix shield by incorporating additional functionalities. Now, you can seamlessly integrate an HC-06 Bluetooth module and a DS3231 real-time clock module. This modification enables the creation of smartphone-controlled digital scoreboards for sports like Cricket and football. Beyond sports, the enhanced shield can be utilized for various other applications too.
If you're equipped with an Arduino-compatible board featuring an ATmega328p chip (such as Metro 328), SAMD21 (like the Metro M0), ESP32-S2, or even SAMD51 (like our Metro M4), this shield streamlines your usage effortlessly! A bit of simple soldering to attach the headers, and you're all set to go. Simply plug it onto your microcontroller board, and connecting any RGB matrix becomes a breeze. This shield handles all the wiring intricacies for you!
For matrices drawing 800mA or less power, you can conveniently 'borrow' the 5V power from the Arduino's regulator. While not suitable for projects with numerous LEDs active simultaneously, it simplifies wiring for tasks like scrolling text and light LED usage as you won't require a separate power adapter. However, if you require 1 Amp or more, utilize the 2x8 connector for data and connect a separate 5V 2A or 5V 4A wall adapter directly to the panel.
The shield has been tested with the following two types of LED matrix modules:
- P6 32x16 LED matrix module- Works with Adafruit library.
- P10 32x16 LED matrix module- Works with 'modified' Adafruit library
